It's September, 1976, and another year approaches. Some are looking forward to it, while others dread it. Either way, the students at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizadry can't deny that the year certainly won't be dull. Nothing is ever dull at Hogwarts. With an entire building full of rising witches/wizards, shape-shifters, and mind readers, with the occasional vampire or werewolf, how can things be anything but eventful?
For Bellatrix Black, the novelty of it all has worn thin. When she was younger, she couldn't wait to be able to go to Hogwarts and develop her magical abilities. Now, in her seventh and final year at the school, she can't wait to leave. She's absolutely disgusted by the amount of filth they're letting in. Imagine, a school for witches and wizards teaching nothing but Mudbloods and Muggle-lovers! The same holds true for her sister, Narcissa. Together, they spend many nights awake in the Slytherin Common Room, discussing the lax standards at the school.
For one Black daughter, however, the school couldn't be more perfect. Andromeda is the polar opposite of the rest of her family, supporting and befriending the Muggle-born community while renouncing her family's ways. She think it's ridiculous to judge a person based on their magical ability/background, and never misses an opportunity to point this out to her elder sisters. She hates being forced to live by their standards, but, unfortunately, has far too long to wait before she can leave and start a life of her own. This doesn't mean, however, that she doesn't rebel.
Then there's the unofficial Dark Arts club of the school. It's a group of older Slytherin students who share the same views on family background and have an almost abnormal interest in the Dark Arts. Consisting of Bellatrix, Narcissa, and Regulus Black, Severus Snape, Lucius Malfoy, Rabastan and Rodolphus Lestrange, and numerous others, the group meets at least once a week after everyone Had gone to bed to study and discuss the Dark Arts. Taking a leaf from Grindelwald's book, they'd be the people most likely to resurrect the Dark Arts amongst the general population.
In contrast to this group are the team known to themselves as the Marauders: James Potter, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, and Peter Pettigrew. While not really interested in anything in particular, they're certainly the troublemakers of the school, and are usually found either wreaking havoc or arguing with members of the Slytherin group. They take particular pleasure in tormenting Severus, much to his immense displeasure.
Meanwhile, in the outside world, a Dark force is rising. Many speculate that he will be worse then Grindelwald could ever have dreamed of, causing an unmistakable hum of fear throughout the entire wizarding world. Who is this man, and why is he posing such a threat? Few know the truth, and they're right under everyone's nose.
Bellatrix met Voldemort on her seventeenth birthday, awed by his presence. They spent the night talking, and she decided then and there that his cause (which was in fact what she had been raised to believe) was her own, and that her life belonged to him. She would do anything and everything for him, thrilled that someone seemed to share her beliefs and desire to act on them. She was employed as his eyes and ears at the school, told to draw in whoever she could and rally them to his cause.
Doing as she was bid, the "Death Club" was formed. The group was one and the same with the group who met to discuss the Dark Arts, only now they had power behind their studies. Meeting with Voldemort on the Hogsmeade trips in the Shrieking Shack, they branch out from mere study and now practice the Dark Arts in secret, training themselves for the fight after they leave Hogwarts. While others seem skeptical about the project, Bellatrix couldn't be more thrilled, and is therefore the best student in the little group. Voldemort is pleased with her progress, and has a plan of his own for her.
While this goes on, the group is unaware and unsuspecting of the smaller clan of students who suspect something is amiss. Consisting of students from Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, and Hufflepuff, these students are aware that something isn't right with the group of Slytherins, but don't know for sure what it is. Teaming up with the Marauders, they've made it their duty to figure out what's going on and report it to the Headmaster.
Where do you stand? Will you assist in the downfall of the Death Club, or learn the ways of the Dark Side yourself? Jump in, join the fun, and remember The Way We Were.
